Gaming News: Link Takes Flight This November

By Jonathan Szafran

This week Nintendo announced  the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which will hit stores November 18th in Europe and November 20th in North America. So blow the dust off your consoles Wii owners, and get ready for Link’s biggest adventure yet.

Skyward Sword’s story takes place before the events of Ocarina of Time and tells the tale of how the Master Sword came into being. Link begins his quest in his home of Skyloft, a large group of islands that float above the clouds, and one day he discovers the Skyward Sword which leads him on a journey below the clouds to a vast and unknown world below.

Helping with Link’s adventure will be Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus controller, which will give players full control of Link’s sword movements. Some enemies can only be killed with certain movements of the controller and when Link is in Skyloft he will be able to fly on the wings of a mighty, bird-like creature using the Wii MotionPlus  as well. At this year’s E3 conference Nintendo showed off a gold Wii MotionPlus controller with the Zelda emblem embossed on it and said that it will be available when the game is released. No details were given but FMV hopes to hear an announcement concerning a bundle of the game and controller sometime soon.
